Work/ Job Shadow opportunities in Cape Town for Grade 11 maritime students

Last year the maritime industry responded most enthusiastically to an appeal to support a 'Job Shadow/Workplace Experience' initiative aimed at helping Grade 11 maritime students learn more about the various careers in the maritime field by spending time nt eh workplace and experiencing a specific job for a day or two.

We are hoping the response from the industry will be as enthusiastic this year, not only because the Work Shadow project is 'compulsory' and contributes to the student's Term Three mark for Life Orientation, but because this 'real life' experience assists the student in making more informed career choices.

This is your opportunity to inspire a future maritime generation and to be the mentor you wished you had!   So please do come on board and support this important initiative!

To support, please provide the below information in an email to by latest 14 June 2019:

- your company name and physical address, as well as the name, job title, email address and telephone number of a contact person
- a brief description of your company's main business activity
- the maximum number of students you will be able to accommodate at one time
- the preferred number of days you will be able to host students (minimum one, maximum three days required)

We will confirm the dates and arrange the logistics (including transport to the Cape Town CBD and Paarden Eiland) with the contact person.  The majority of the students will be resident at the STS Lawhill Maritime Centre in Simon's Town, so no accommodation arrangements are required but the provision of a light lunch (pizza/sandwiches and tea/coffee) will be appreciated.

We look forward to hearing from you.   And thank you once again to those who supported the 2018 Job Shadow - see slide below

Warmest regards
