The presentation will develop participants’ professional competence by providing practical engineering knowledge relating to maritime and off shore lifting appliances, including equipment selection, inspection, examination, testing, maintenance, statutory compliance and operational safety which is used in both onshore and off shore environments.
It will enable participants to better recognise engineering and operational risks associated with lifting equipment and apply / identify relevant standards, regulatory requirements and good engineering practice when managing or undertaking lifting activities.
(Driven Machinery Regulation 18 (DMR 18) is the South African regulation, made under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993, that governs the design, use, examination and testing of lifting machines and lifting tackle.)
