Topic: Overview of the Use of Polymeric Repair and Protection Materials within the Marine Industry.

Short description of what will be discussed:

Polymer technology has revolutionized marine new construction, repair and maintenance procedures. Polymeric engineering composites and coatings offer a combination of benefits rarely found in conventional methods, which will help to extend equipment and asset life, improve efficiency and safety, reduce dry docking time and lower maintenance cost and capital expenditure.

AESSEAL (Pty) Ltd in collaboration with the South African Institute of Marine Engineers and Naval Architects (SAIMENA) are pleased to invite SAIMENA members to a presentation delivered Mr D.J. Blackwell, Engineering Director for Belzona Polymerics Ltd. and NACE Coatings Inspection Programme (CIP) certified Instructor. The presentation will focus on driving forward cost savings with the use of polymeric materials, covering the following topics:

  • Repair and Protection of underwater equipment affected by cavitation
  • Rudder bush installation with the use of injection techniques
  • Polymeric cold bonding techniques for installation of equipment and structures
  • Overview of other polymeric solutions and applications within the Marine industry.
