The SA Agulhas II is subject to an extensive monitoring campaign - 200+ engineering sensors have been measuring her operational responses since 2012.
In January 2019 she embarked on the Weddell Sea Expedition. The ship, and her ice-going capabilities would be put to the test in this extreme environment.
The ice pilot, a master mariner, was asked to document situations, where it was felt the vessel was operated to her limit throughout the course of this expedition.
Are these risks reflected in monitoring measurements? How can such data deliver insight to benefit ship operations and vessel management?
