Topic: Dynamic Positioning Systems
Short description of what will be discussed:
The concept of Dynamic Positioning and what it is will be introduced. He will delve deeper into each technology group of the integrated Dynamic Positioning System and how it will influence vessel design. The parts of the Dynamic Position Control, Thruster Control, Environmental Sensors, Position Reference Sensors, Main/ Emergency Switchboard, Power Generation/ Distribution, Thrusters and Ancillary Equipment needed by these systems to function. He will also look at how these systems fit into a DP-0, DP-1, DP-2 and DP-3 vessel and he will explore the redundancy concept of DP-2 and DP-3 and explore the Single Point of Failure concept. I will then open the floor for any Dynamic Positioning related questions.
