The IASST had its 80th international meeting in Romania. The host of the meeting was CERONAV, the national training center of Romania. CERONAV is IASST member and offers a wide range of maritime training courses (STCW, OPITO, DP and Inland shipping).
There were 20 members present at this meeting from all over the world (Romania, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Latvia, the Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, Malaysia, South Africa and Canada).

IASST 80th international meeting in Romania.The first part of the meeting, the annual meeting was held in Constanta. During this meeting there was also a donation made by the IASST to the local scouting group “Blue Marin”. The IASST is an UK registered charity organization. The IASST gives during each meeting a donation to a local organization that contributes in a positive way to the local community. The cheque of 500 GBP was handed over by the chairman of the IASST to one of the leaders of this scouting group.

After the annual meeting the training facilities of CERONAV were visited. At this moment the facility in Constanta is under construction, the training center will be upgraded and extended and the expect to finalize this work in September this year.

The second part of the meeting in Romania was held in Predeal.
During this day there was a seminar with several international presenters with presentations on several safety related topics e.g. rescue team safety during search and rescue in Turkey after the earth quake, the use of simulation in safety training, changes in the GMDSS, the added value of simulation in training seafarers etc.
The next meeting will be hosted in October by IASST member Occupational Training International (OTI) in Baku Azerbaijan.
The IASST looks back on an excellent meeting hosted by CERONAV.
